Not really looking forward to this weekend from a Williams perspective. In last year's race, the big six lapped everyone and most finished 2 laps down.

Probably only interesting to monitor our gap to p15 and the Kubica - Russell gap to see if there's progress on either front.

Some unusually spread out team mates after FP1 . . . could just be trying different things?

Our TD says we've reached the potential of FW42 in its current configurations.Nearly there so we should wait for upgrades to see any dramatic changes in our gap.
I think if the gap doesn't grow when others are bringing new pieces and we don't, then that's good news.

Well I slept right through FP1. Results not much of a surprise with Williams slowest with Russell ahead of Latifi.

FP2 again slowest which is not much of a surprise but at least Russell and Kubica are only 0.2 apart.

To see Mclaren who were on same pace as us at the end of last season, being 2.5sec faster is really depressing! No matter what program they were on, that's a huge gap!

Marginal improvement against P1 time. Also improvement over Monaco. But the field from p7 to p17 are all in the 1.13s and Russell was 1.15.

Seems like the team is doing what they can but it's a big ask to catch up this kind of defecit.

It is tragic that Williams is running that gigantic bloody wing.

Did anyone see much of a change in the front suspension design. Apparently we had new front suspension

There is new suspension

Seems like it is a change to the push rod mounting point on the front hub. Aimed at trying to make the front more responsive.

Hopefully we might get some feedback from the drivers about the suspension.

After their initial runs seems like they were positive about it. But Russell still makes it clear that it does not address the big issues with the FW42.

Suspension is great for working the tyres properly and generating more performance but you need the raw downforce ultimately to be competitive. Possibly it is a step of sorts but really they need to be bringing aero updates. William's in recent seasons have been allergic to aero updates.

Well FP3 let's see what the team can deliver.

Well, at least they finally seem able to approach the times of the FW41 (in the hands of Russell).

Miles away but the car is draggy and the Ferrari engined sauber has the better pu. This was always going to be a bad weekend for William's I think.
