Following a dissapointing British Grand Prix last weekend, the McLaren Mercedes formula one team have promised new parts, which the team hope they will push the team forward to beat Ferrari at the European Grand Prix in two weeks time. The team will bring the new parts to the upcoming test at Spa Francorchamps
It was obvious to all that the McLaren team were struggling for pace at last weeks grand prix, but the difference between McLaren and Ferrari was around 0.2 seconds a lap, which doesn't sound much, but in the close world of formula one, that is a crutial amount of time
The McLaren team will take part in the three day test along with the rest of the 2007 formula one callender. The teams last visited the famous Belgium circuit in 2005, as circuit modifications forced the event to be called off for 2006, meaning this weeks test will be very important.
McLaren's Martin Witmarsh had this to say on the matter. "I predict that we are going to see the fortunes swing either way in what's going to be a classic and exciting championship. We've now had nine races and 16 times we've had a car on the podium. That helps. It is so tight now in performance and reliability that any of us can trip up now and that would be very significant. If just one of your cars doesn't score points, then the pendulum swings very quickly."
