Ferrari’s Felipe Massa has secured pole position for this weekends Turkish Grand Prix, Britain’s Lewis Hamilton looked to have beaten Massa to pole, until Massa’s final run, in which he posted a time 0.044 faster than Hamilton. Meanwhile Fernando Alonso ended the session in 4th position, behind the second Ferrari of Kimi Räikkönen.

Meanwhile Fernando Alonso ended the session in 4th position, behind the second Ferrari of Kimi Räikkönen.

BMW Sauber team mates Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld ended the session in 5th and 6th positions respectively, who if one of the ‘big four’ has a mechanical problem, could be racing for a podium position, providing that nothing happens in the first corner.

Renault driver Hekki Kovalinen finished in 7th position, with Williams driver Nico Rosberg just behind in 8th. Jarno Trulli bet second Renault driver Giancarlo Fisichella to 9th position.

The second part of qualifying was hard fought, with Super Aguri driver Anthony Davidson just missing the cut, despite a brilliant ending to his last flying lap, Anthony ended the second part of the session in 11th place. The Red Bull’s were caught out as well, Mark Webber and David Coulthard will line up 12th and 13th.

Honda drivers Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button will line up 14th and 22nd, as Button changed his engine after the qualifying session and will start 22nd and last. Alexander Wurz will line up 15th, with Toro Rosso driver Vitantonio Liuzzi starting in 16th.

Toyota driver Ralf Schumacher will start on the 9th row on the grid, the brother of seven times world champion Michael Schumacher only managing to post the 17th fastest time, with second Super Aguri driver Takuma Sato joining him on the 9th row in 18th.

Sebastian Vettel and Adrian Sutil will start on the 10th row, the two drivers over two seconds behind pole sitter Massa. Sakon Yamamoto will start in 21st position, as we mentioned Jenson Button will start 22nd and last.
