According to reports in the
Autosport magazine the WilliamsF1 team is expected to announce a new
title sponsor, commencing in 2007, at this weekends Brazilian Grand Prix.
As for the identity of the new
sponsor the WilliamsF1 team is keeping this a close secret but it is
believed to be a company that has already been involved in Formula One with
other teams. The deal is thought to be worth around GBP 25 million per
season.
Combined with the teams use of
Toyota engines in 2007 this significant financial backing should allow the
team to compete at a better level than they have been able to do in 2006. It
is also expected that the WilliamsF1 team will retain their existing
sponsors.
WilliamsF1 CEO Chris Chapple spoke of how it was a major coup for the
WilliamsF1 teams commercial arm to secure sponsorship in today's climate.
He said:
"All credit to our commercial team for pulling these deals off in a tricky
commercial climate. One of the attractions for any sponsor of Williams is that we still
represent a pure engineering and racing philosophy to Formula One.
"We're not here simply to help market a core brand. This is what we do." |
