Jerez Test 07:02:2007 Day Two

Day two of the AT&T Williams Jerez test would see both Alex Wurz and Nico Rosberg continue their test programme on the new FW29.

RosbergThe pair would finish the day in seventh and eighth with Alex leading Nico. Both drivers would focus on testing various mechanical and aerodynamic setups as the team works on learning the new FW29.

AT&T Williams Technical Director Sam Michael commented: “Day two for the team in Jerez saw Nico and Alex concentrate mainly on checking different mechanical and aero set-ups on the FW29s. We also carried out some brake systems testing and long runs for temperatures and reliability. Car performance and reliability is progressing well as we dial the car into the latest Bridgestone Potenza tyres."

In an interview for autosport.com Sam Michael added: "It is a bloody good start.

"The initial impressions are good. It is a normal system check, debugging so far, and the comments are good. It is a good benchmark and we have a good baseline to work from."

Alex also added: "It's been good. A good start. I already started to play with the car a bit on the first day, but on the second day I was not lucky with the red flags so I could not do as much as a I wanted.

"But just like I said at the launch - a few tenths this year will make you a hero or zero. Your lap times are going to depend on when you go out on the track, what kind of condition the track is in and what the traffic is like. Every little bit will make a difference this year.

"But so far the balance is good, so it is a very good start."
