AT&T Williams driver Nico Rosberg would finish sixth fastest in the second Friday Practice for the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix. Team-mate Alex Wurz wuld finish in a disappointing seventeenth position. Even Nico's performance would only come after running on the super-soft Bridgestone tyre, allowing him to set a quick time late in the session. Fastest in the sesssion was Alonso.

After the
opening Friday practice session for the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix the AT&T
Williams team would find their drivers, Alex Wurz and Kazuki Nakajima, in
fifteenth and seventeenth positions. For the second Friday practice session
Nico Rosberg would replace Kazuki. Fastest in the opening practice was
Alonso followed by Lewis Hamilton.
For
the team this session would see Alex have an early off-track moment while
Mark Webber would set the early pace. For Toyota's Jarno Trulli his session
would end with suspension failure. With thirty minutes of the session run
Alonso would move to the top of the times followed by Hamilton, then Webber
and Raikkonen.
Neither of the Williams drivers wee showing much pace early
in the session. Kovalainen would retire from the session with suspension
damage after hitting the wall at Turn eight. Liuzzi was fifth fastest.
Several drivers were out using the super soft tyres, including Alonso who
would improve his fastest time to be a second ahead of Hamilton. Heidfeld
was now third fastest. Nico was down in ninth but was out on the super soft
tyres. Nico was able to move up to be seventh with thirty minutes of the
session remaining. Nico would pit, but after a quick adjustment was back out
and would improve to be fourth fastest.
Massa was in
fifth while Raikkonen was in eighth. Heidfeld would brush the wall forcing
him to return to the pits. He was still third fastest. Trulli was able to
return to the circuit along with team-mate Ralf. But for the Italian he
would suffer a second failure of the right front suspension. Ralf would be
forced to pit. Trulli would storm out of the Toyota pit appearing to be
quite angry with the failures.
Massa would move into second with just minutes left in the session.
Raikkonen was fourth followed by Heidfeld. Nico was in sixth. There would be
a moment with the Torro Rosso of Speed running into the rear of Webber's Red
Bull. Alex would finish the session in a disappointing seventeenth.
Questions must be asked as to the future prospects of Alex with the team
given that Nico has out performed him consistently since the start of the
season. |
