Rosberg an encouraging 3rd in first run with FW30

The AT&T Williams team would start their official test at the Valencia circuit with the 2008 FW30. The responsibility of completing the day's testing of the FW30 was given to Nico Rosberg. Team-mate Kazuki Nakajima was to continue development work with a FW29B.

FW30 & DriversThe focus of the days testing was to work on the area of reliability, with the team working on extending the length of the runs with the FW30 over the period of the test. The team will also evaluate various set-up changes, in order to gain an understanding as to how their changes effect the car's mechanical and aerodynamic behaviour.

At the end of the day Nico Rosberg would complete eighty four laps with a best time of 1m:12.838. This would see him finish in an encouraging third. His pace in the new FW30 would impress onlookers given that it was its first time on the track.

Kazuki would finish in seventh with a best time of 1m:13.473, as he continued to work on reliability with the FW29B.

Williams F1 Technical Director Sam Michael commented: "Today, Nico Rosberg took the FW30 out for its first official test day. After completing some further systems checks and mapping in the morning, he progressed onto long runs in the afternoon to check stabilised temperatures on the new cooling systems. No
major problems were encountered, so it was a successful initial run. Meanwhile, Kazuki continued the reliability programme with the FW29B.
