For the AT&T
Williams team day one of their test at the Circuit de Catalunya would be
both Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima behind the wheel of a pair of FW30's.
In line with their celebration of the history of the Williams team the car
had a new layout of the logos on the bodywork.
But
things would not get off the a good start when the team had to call an early
halt to proceedings after Kazuki Nakajima
was involved in a high-speed accident on the first day of the teams test,
and the team wanted to find the cause of the accident.
Kazuki would leave the track at high speed at the first corner as a result
of a front wing failure. He was not injured in the accident and was able to
get out of the car, despite going straight off and into the barrier. The
FW30 was badly
damaged as a result of the accident.
As to the cause of the accident Kazuki said: "It was a technical
problem."
Kazuki would finish the day with
the thirteenth fastest time, 1m:23.955.
Nico
would finish the day in ninth having only been able to complete twelve laps
prior to the decision to call of the days testing. Both drivers are expected to be back out tomorrow.
A team spokesman said: "He's fine. It was related to a front wing mounting issue which will be
fixed and the car will be running again tomorrow."
