 Algarve Test 21:01:2009 Day Three

the third day of the AT&T Williams test at the Algarve circuit saw an improvement in the weather with the rain clearing by mid-morning allowing the team to have their first dry running with the FW31. Nico Rosberg would continue to carry out the driving duties but team-mate Kazuki Nakajima will replace him for the final day of testing.

RosbergNico was able to complete several long runs completing 143 laps during the day. He would finish the day fastest of the 2009 cars, with a time of 1m:29.729.

Williams F1 Technical Director Sam Michael commented: “We had a wet track for the first couple of hours in Portimăo today, but by late morning it had dried out enabling us to run slick tyres on the FW31 for the first time. It was a constructive day as we worked through a lot of the items on our job list, including systems checks, aerodynamic and mechanical performance tests. The FW31 reliably completed just over 670kms today on only its third day on track. Kazuki will take over from Nico for the last day of testing tomorrow and for his first run in the new car.”
