 Time to copy diffuser design

With the announcement that the diffusers being run by the AT&T Williams, Toyota and Brawn GP teams were legal has set off a rush by other teams to copy the design. But for AT&T Williams driver Nico Rosberg it will takes the rival teams a considerable time to not only copy them but to get them to work.

RosbergIn an interview at Shanghai and reported in autosport.com Nico spoke of his view that the other teams are going to find the process of modifying their cars and make them fast not as simple as they would hope.

Nico said: "It will take many races for the others to attempt to make their cars work with that kind of diffuser and it's not a given that they'll be able to make it work. It's not a fact that they will automatically be quicker - it's not that straightforward. It will take a whole lot of time and even then you can't be sure it'll work."

As for the dominance of the Brawn GP team in the opening races Nico also feels that this situation is likely to continue.

In regard to Brawn GP's continued dominance Nico added: "A very strong chance, yeah... an extremely strong chance. The thing that must be said is that the development rate of this year's cars will be massive, because of the new rules.

"We put a part on and we'll be quicker from one weekend to the next, sometimes by two or three tenths. If you consider Brawn is maybe two tenths ahead of Toyota, that can disappear oh so quickly. Look a few months down the road and things might look a bit different."

"Brawn is quickest at the moment, then Toyota, and after that I think it's quite close between Red Bull and ourselves," said Rosberg. "It's looking quite good at the moment. I think we have an opportunity to qualify towards the front of the grid and score more good points."

rival fans of the diffuser 3 are SOOOOOOOOO STUPID.

They all think bolt one of these deiffusers on and wallah 1 second(Sm22)

They are so gonna be disappointed.

I think macca already attempted one of these diffusers in febuary but they coudnt get it to work.

I think the next step of upgrades the diffuser 3 take on the diffusers will be a bigger gain then the others will make just by creating one.

Tis a four way fight for the title...

And for once that includes Williams

I'm not so sure about that mate, or we start to score big points or nothing, at Barcelona I think we will see the trend for the rest of the season.

I think he's absoultly right and this is excatly what Norbert Haug said yesterday, other teams may find some tenths in it but you can't expect others to do something within 9weeks when we have done it during 9months.

Spain will be a defining moment in shaping the rest of the season without doubt. My major concern is whether Kaz is capable of upping his game enough to challenge for regular points.

Till the time you don't get an imformation in any sites or from engineers themselves, you can't rely on that.
Those cars are naked on race and after the race too, it ain't a hard job for anyone to observe what's the design there.

It is definitely not a 4 way title fight. The title will go to Button, the WCC will be Brawn's.

We've had bad luck in addition to mistakes the first 2 races.
Kaz will come up big I am sure - tho he has shown nothing in his 1+ yr here.

Anyhow - kudos F1R for your defense of the team on the rbr board.
they pulled my post after redwetter called Nico a @#$%& & I said his Momma too.

Interesting to see how those guys operate over there in tough times. They are quick to abandon ship.
redwetter even said there season is over.

Notice how none of them ever came over to backup the DDD debacle after the ruling. CLOWNS.

Cheers Bond – typical mods they don't like a bit of banter. Shame about the lack of RBR comment on here – their silence is deafening... To be honest I don't know why, the RBR is a real contender plus Seb is a fantastic driver.

The championship is wide open this year, Brawn have an edge at present ,but all to go for, as i see it.

DEVELOPMENT, DEVELOPMENT, DEVELOPMENT.

The DDD teams have a lead, the RED BULL IS right there, i think we can develop as quick as anyone this year,

The reason i say this is because the amount of area,s you can make big gains on this years cars has been cut down to just a few key area,s I think 500 people is more than enough to focus on these key area,s with the new rules and regulations.

So i say it is wide open this year.

Come on boys.

EDIT: Forget it, it's the same one as always. No way we can challenge Toyota this weekend, they have aero upgrades, maybe they can even challenge Brawn, us none, I think we will be 5th at best

Alas, you know those twits over there don't care aboutthe team. That's what sad, cause they have a fantastic platform to work with & a fantastic #1 driver in Seb.

Pretty much like the Ferrari, I think at the front there's more than enough downforce, would be nice to have a one likely to the Brawn, which causes less drag

Wether we can see them or not, i will say that there must be some updates on our car, no matter how small, Nico has stated that they are finding tenths, every few weeks.

That's not the same front wing, at least it is not exactly the same, as there's now a hole bellow the "swiss" and that's the first time I sow that hole.

I never notices the slots at the top of the winglets before either. Are they new, or are they old?

I haven't seen it yet too - and those holes under the bridgestone logo are new too I think...

as previously stated, the next two races will see where some of the previous non DDD cars will be testing their new ideas. it will be a forerunner to the full monte in europe starting with barca.
now that there is certainty of interpretation i would not be surprised to see further elaborate interations of the diffuser which will go even further than those currently employed.
williams will have to keep the development at full throttle if they are to maintain any edge however i am pretty certain that brawn are the team and that they still have something up their sleeve. to date they are the team to watch.

after going through all of those f1-live photos... we're not as fast for aero development as TOYOTA... no where near they're pace. They almost have a brand new car.

We do however have smaller scale changes.
