Williams urges caution

With the FIA, via Max Mosley, and Bernie Ecclestone putting forward various ideas as to what can be done to improve Formula One after it suffered a year with falling ratings WilliamsF1 team owner Sir Frank Williams is urging caution ahead of the Formula One commission meeting in just over a week.

At this meeting the Formula One Commission will vote on various proposals that have been put forward, including the likes of adding weight to cars if they are successful. But Williams has said that this meeting must make the right decisions for the right reasons as they can have a major impact on Formula One's future.

The Formula One Commission meeting on October 28th has the potential to be one of the most difficult, as many of the teams have expressed their dislike of the proposals. Any decisions made must be final as the last thing Formula One needs is discontent.

“In truth, this is the most important meeting for Formula One in two decades,” he said. “I have faith that common sense will prevail. Our guiding criteria must be to concentrate on matters that improve the show.”

In the Times newspapers Williams was quoted as saying: "This is the most important meeting for Formula One in two decades.

"I have faith that common sense will prevail. Hopefully we can reach some concrete decisions to ensure the debate does not rumble all winter. Our guiding criteria must be to concentrate on matters that improve the show."
