The second Friday practice for the 2010 Brazilian Grand Prix would see both AT&T Williams drivers finish outside the top ten. Rubens Barrichello was in eleventh and Nico Hulkenberg thirteenth. Both drivers would feel that their cars were lacking pace and that there was still work to do.
Brazilian GP Friday 2nd
Practice
For the AT&T
Williams team, after seeing team driver Rubens Barrichello finish seventh in
the opening Friday practice, they were hopeful of seeing further good
performances from both drivers in the afternoon Friday practice. Rubens had
been backed up by Nico Hulkenberg who finished in twelfth.
Both
Rubens and Nico would take to the track early in the session and Nico would
set the early pace going fastest with a 1m:15.488. But Nico's time was well
off the quickest pace so he was quickly passed by other drivers. But Nico
would improve his time to again be fastest with a 1m:14.327 but again it was
only briefly. With ten minutes of the session completed it would be Hamilton
who was fastest with time of 1m:13.603. Team-mate Button would be second but
he was passed by Schumacher. Rubens would move up to fourth with a 1m:14.123
lap. With quarter of an hour of the session completed Nico would pit after
managing to see himself in seventh.
Rubens would
also join Nico in the pit but they would come back out with thirty minutes
of the session completed for their next series of runs. Nico was currently
in eleventh and Rubens one place further back in twelfth. At the front it
would be Webber fastest, 1m:12.387, from Vettel and Hamilton. Rubens would
improve three places from twelfth to ninth with a lap of 1m:13.717. He was
now 1.383s down on Webber's quickest time. With forty five minutes of the
session remaining the order was Webber from Vettel, Hamilton, Massa, Button,
and Alonso in sixth. As the last thirty minutes commenced drivers would
start their soft tyre runs with Massa moving into third, 1m:12.677, but
still behind the times been set by Webber and Vettel on the harder tyre.
On the softer tyre Webber was even faster with a time of 1m:12.072. Alonso
would improve to be third with Hamilton now fourth. But Vettel would find a
few tenths to move ahead of Webber with a 1m:11.968. So Vettel was now
fastest from team-mate Webber with Alonso third, Hamilton fourth, Massa
fifth and Kubica in sixth. Both Rubens and Nico were out on the track with
both on the super-soft tyre. But Nico was running with a lot of fuel and
would cross the line setting a time in the 1m17s. Nico was currently
thirteenth while Rubens was only in eleventh. They would finish the session
in these positions. Both Williams drivers were outside the top ten but with
the team normally carrying out setup work on the Friday their ultimate pace
may not have been on display.
