The final practoce session for the 2012 Italian Grand Prix would see Williams F1 drivers Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna finish tenth and thirteenth. It was an encouraging session for both drivers but Pastor is facing a ten place grid penalty.
Italian GP Saturday
Practice
After been
outside the top ten in the final Friday practice at the Monza circuit the
Williams F1 team was looking to improve their pace in the Saturday practice.
With the start of the hour long session both Williams drivers Bruno Senna
and Pastor Maldonado would take to the track early and after fifteen minutes
Bruno would set a 1m:272.63 to be fifth. The quickest time was from Perez
with a 1m:25.894. Bruno would improve to be fourth with a 1m:26.554.
Hamilton would move to the top of the times running on the hard tyre with a
1m:25.816, with Button second. Bruno was also on the hard tyre for these
early runs. At this time Pastor was third running with a new helmet design
that had the words "Less trouble More speed" but after twenty minutes of the
session Pastor was down in sixth with a 1m:26.016.
Bruno would improve to be second with a 1m:25.718. At the front Hamilton was
fastest with a 1m:24.687 while for Red Bull Vettel was fifth and Webber
eighth. Pastor was able to move up to third with a 1m:25.383.Button was
still second behind Hamilton with Perez third and Bruno fourth. With half
the session completed drivers would start to switch to the medium tyre
including Bruno. Alonso would go fastest with a 1m:25.036. Rosberg running
on the softer tyre would move up to third with a 1m:25.036. Bruno's first
effort on the softer tyre was a 1m,:25.461 but he would get stuck behind a
Marussia of Pic and have a moment at the second chicane running over the
speed bumps.
With more drivers on the softer tyre Bruno would drop to eighth and after s
frustrating time not been able to get the best out on his tyres he would
pit. As the session drew to a close the track was very busy with drivers out
on their qualifying simulations. Hamilton would go fastest with a 1m:24.578
over Alonso. Hulkenberg would move up to eighth with a 1m:25.289. Vettel was
tenth but on his final run his car would stop at the Roggia chicane. In the
dying moments Pastor was on a quicker lap but he would pit finishing in
tenth with a 1m:25.383. At the end of the session Bruno had dropped to
thirteenth with a 1m:25.461. Di Resta would finish in third followed by
Massa, Button, Rosberg, Perez, Raikkonen. Hulkenberg and Pastor.
An encouraging session for both Williams drivers but now it was down to whether or not
Bruno could move himself into the top ten in qualifying. But for Bruno it
had been difficult to get a clear lap but he did finish very close behind
both Red Bull cars.
