Senna
suffers minor back burns
It was confirmed
by the Williams F1 team that Bruno Senna had suffered burns to his back due
to an issue with his car during the recent Singapore Grand Prix.
During the Grand Prix Senna would retire from the race due to a KERS problem
with his car and messages were relayed by his race engineer telling him:
"Jump out with both feet from the cockpit. Under no circumstances touch the
ground and the car at the same time." Senna had lost his KERS with sixteen
laps remaining in the race.
Williams’ chief operations engineer Mark Gillan confirmed that Senna had
suffered burns but that the investigations into the cause were still
ongoing.
“We have a good idea (what caused the burns) but are still investigating
just to make sure that we have covered all potential causes,” said Gillan.
Williams would eventually clarify that the burns suffered by Bruno were not
from a KERS-related problem.
A spokes person for Williams would say via Twitter: "To confirm, Bruno's
burns were due to a wiring loom seal coming loose in the seat allowing heat
from back of car to escape - not KERS related. Bruno is here with us today
and I can confirm he is 100% fine!"
Senna himself used Twitter to confirm that the burns he suffered were
relatively minor.
"Hey everyone. The burns on my back weren't serious and are pretty much
healed. Today I'm at Williams F1 for some simulator work."
