Maldonado
wants to stay with Williams
In the lead-up
to Sunday's Korean Grand Prix Williams F1 driver Pastor Maldonado was asked
as to his future and he answered that he would like to remain at Williams
for 2013.
Prior to today's interview Pastor indicated that his options were open for
2013, including a move to another team. But in the FIA Press Conference
Pastor suggested that another year with Williams would be his preferred
option. Pastor said: “To be honest I really want to stay with Williams. It's
a good team and the team is getting better and better every day.
“We’ve been rebuilding everything in the team and I think now it’s more
compact and the car is looking every day better and better. So good
confidence with them but at the moment there is not confirmation. So looking
forward to seeing that but otherwise looking forward to remaining in Formula
One for sure.”
As to his prospects in the up-coming Korean Grand Prix Pastor said that
targeting an appearance in Q3 as his first aim for the weekend. “I hope to
have a competitive car and a part of that is to be quite competitive in
quali. We missed a couple of tenths in the last qualifying in Suzuka and we
were out of Quali 3. It was quite a good pace during the race but we are
really looking forward here to being in Quali 3 and very competitive. But
it’s very difficult to know exactly where we’ll be.”
For some reason Maldonado's comments strike me as a reaction on his part to PDVSA not being a sure thing next year. Sets off some alarm bells in my brain.
It's probably nothing. Like that one time I though that Rubens's whining was down to him being on the way out, to be substituted by a mediocre compatriot. Yeah. It's probably nothing.
