Indian GP Friday 2nd
Practice
Haven seen Valtteri Bottas run
in the opening Friday practice session Bruno Senna would return for the
second session for the Williams F1 team. With the start of the session the
Williams pair of Bruno and Pastor Maldonado would take to track early with
Pastor out first. Both Williams drivers would start to set times very early
in the session with Pastor setting a 1m:31.240 to go fastest. Bruno was
third with a 1m:31.951. The early running would see Ricciardo go fastest
with a 1m:29.503 while Bruno would improve to move into second with a
1m:29.772. As more drivers set times Webber would go fastest with a
1m:28.847 as Bruno moves ahead of Ricciardo to be second, 1m:28.996.
Button would be the next to go fastest with a 1m:28.548. But Vettel would
take this spot with a 1m:28.064 with Webber now second. With fifteen minutes
of the session Bruno had dropped to be sixth as Hamilton set the new
benchmark time of 1m:27.762. But quickly Alonso would move ahead with a
1m:27.402 running on the hard tyre. Pastor was completing tyre runs in the
afternoon session with both drivers pitting after their first runs. Bruno
would return to the track, currently in eighth. Several drivers had already
had off-track moments including Bruno, Massa, and Grosjean. Bruno would have
a moment at Turn three but was able to continue. He would set a 1m:27.946 to
be fourth. The first driver to switch to the option tyre would be Petrov
with Bruno now fifth. Vettel was leading with a 1m:27.256 followed by
Alonso, Raikkonen, and Hamilton. More drivers were trialling the soft tyre
with Raikkonen setting a 1m:27.507.
With fifty five minutes of the session run Alonso would go fastest with a
1m:26.964 running on the soft tyre. But Vettel would move past him with a
1m:26.921. Webber was able to set a 1m:26.339, having been stuck in his
garage for a big part of the session, to be fastest but team-mate Vettel
would improve with a 1m:26.221. With twenty minutes of the session remaining
both Williams drivers were on longer runs and with the end of the session
Bruno would finish in tenth with a 1m:27.738 while Pastor was down in
seventeenth with a 1m:28.956. Pastor had been completing high fuel runs late
in the session. An encouraging sign of pace from Bruno after having sat out
the first session.
