 Williams to run special livery

600th GP LIvery

The Williams F1 team will run with a special livery at this weekend’s German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring to mark their 600th Formula One world championship Grand Prix.

The sidepods of their FW35s will feature a large number 600, whilst the names of each of the team’s 691 current employees are listed on a white strip underneath.

Williams Grand Prix Engineering’s first race was the 1977 Spanish Grand Prix at Jarama in which they entered a single March 761. Belgian racer Patrick Neve qualified the car in a lowly 22nd place before going on to finish 12th in the race, four laps down on the winner, Mario Andretti.

Since then in their 599 Grand Prix appearances the team has won seven drivers’ titles, nine constructors’ crowns and 114 race victories. Only two teams have participated in more world championship races than Williams - Ferrari and McLaren.
