The second Friday practice
session for the 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix would see Valtteri Bottas return
having given up his seat to Felipe Nasr for the opening Friday practice.
With the start of the session it would be quite a while before either
Williams driver would take to the track. With the half an hour of the
session complete neither Valtteri or Felipe Massa had set a time.
The session would continue with the Mercedes of Hamilton again fastest. with forty minutes remaining drivers
would start to come out running on the soft tyre. The quickest time was a
1m:34.325 from Hamilton on the soft tyre. With thirty minutes remaining
Felipe would take to the track and would set a 1m:36.790 on the medium tyre
to be thirteenth. Valtteri had still yet to come out . But as the final
thirty minutes commenced he would take to the track setting a 1m:37.512 on
the medium tyre.
It would be Felipe would would change to the soft tyre first and he would set a 1m:35.442 to be fifth.
Valtteri was back in his pit at this time but he would return, running on
the soft tyre, to set a 1m:35.920 to be eleventh. It certainly was a session
that saw the Williams team limit their track time in particular that of
Valtteri. Felipe would complete ten laps on the soft tyre whereas Valtteri
only completed three. Valtteri would later speak of how the team really felt
that they did not need to spend much time on the track as they have already
collected a lot of data from previous testing.
