Massa
excited for 2015
After a 2014
season that saw Felipe Massa return to the podium on several occasions the
Williams Martini driver is looking forward to 2015 aiming to see race wins
and to challenge for the Drivers Championship.
This season saw a revitalised Williams out on track driven by a rejuvenated
Massa.
In what was Felipe's twelfth season in Formula 1, 2014 had seen the
Brazilian return to the podium in what was one of his best season to date.
This improved performance from the Brazilian helped the Williams team claim
third in the Constructors' Championship. 2014 would see Felipe score 134 of
the team's 320 points, claiming three podium results which included a
runner-up finish at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
"The year did not start the way I would have liked but we finished with a
super-competitive car," he said in an interview with Globo Esporte.
"I was happy with the second phase of the Championship."
As for 2015 Felipe is looking ahead to 2015. He added: "I'm super excited
for next year."
"I think we can have a better year with a more competitive car and fight for
victories, the Championship. That's all I want.
"I already fought for the victory in the last race of this year.
"I hope this is the beginning of a 2015 full of wins and that we can get to
Interlagos and Abu dhabi with a chance of fighting for the Championship."
He's got to come out firing and no excuses. He CAN do it, it's in there somewhere. I hope he's found it again and can put it to use. If he can really find that old form, he'll drive Bottas to better things too. It's a win, win.
Massa will be great next season. It takes time to settle into a new team, let alone into a team which is undergoing such a huge transformation. Too many people jumped on Felipe early doors this year, spouting all sorts of rubbish about his 'lack' of talent. Amazing how quickly opinions can change.

I don't think anyone disputes the talent. It's the application and attitude that has been a problem. The last 6 or so races he seems to be back to his best. Let's hope he has solved the problem that has caused him to under-perform for the last 5 years or so.
One of the bigger subplots for next year, if Williams have a decent car, will be seeing how Massa performs. You couldn't write a better story than Felipe winning a race for Williams, at least not for me. Wow. That would go near the top of my all-time coolest F1 moments. Almost happened in Abu Dhabi, or at least they made us think that, and I was @#$%&""ing bricks, heart in my throat, edge of seat, the works. I was exhausted when the race ended.
So. Here's to Massa finding his groove again, for a whole season. For Williams.
Go see some pics of his accident; they are gruesome. Seeing the pics and then watching him perform well in a Williams makes so much sweeter.
Massa's a confidence driver, and everything he has said and done over the last couple of months suggests the chipper Massa of 2008/2009 is back. He knows he can go toe to toe with Bottas, he is winning back the respect of the paddock and he knows his team will stand by him even if he has a bad patch, so everything points to him hitting the ground running in Melbourne. Whether this will take the pressure off bottas to land points, and provoke Bottas into racing a tad harder to beat him, I can only hope.
