Hungarian GP: Top ten for Williams Martini drivers in FP2

The second Friday practice session for the 2015 Hungarian GP would see both Williams Martini drivers in the top ten of the times with Valtteri Bottas leadinf team-mate Felipe Massa in 9th and 10th. But the pair would be separated by just 0.030 seconds with Felipe imprving from his first session times. Both drivers would complete longer runs on both the medium and soft tyre as they prepared for Sunday's race.

Team Summary:
With fifteen minutes of the second Friday practice completed neither of the Williams drivers had come out for their first runs. Quickest a t this time was Hamilton with a 1m:26.132 from Vettel and Raikkonen. After their first runs Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa were seventh and eleventh with twenty five minutes of the session completed. Hamilton was still quickest with a 1m:25.613 from Ricciardo, and Rosberg. On the soft tyre Raikkonen would go quickest with a 1m:25.134. As more drivers went out for soft tyre runs Valtteri and Felipe would drop to ninth and thirteenth with just under an hour remaining. On the soft tyre Rosberg would go quickest with a 1m:24.668 but Hamilton would move ahead with a 1m:23.949.

After their soft tyre runs Valtteri and Felipe would be ninth and tenth with forty five minutes of the session remaining. After short stops in their pits both Williams drivers would come back out on their used soft tyres with thirty five minutes remaining. Both drivers were setting times in the 1m:29s as they continued on their longer runs on the soft tyre. With fourteen laps completed by Valtteri and thirteen from Felipe they continued to lap in the 1m:29s but would have to pit with a brief red flag. Both drivers would come back out with the re-start with Felipe on medium tyres and Valtteri soft. Ten minutes remaining and both Williams drivers continued their long runs. Valtteri would also switch to the medium tyre as the session drew to a close. With the end of the session the Williams team would be ninth and tenth in the times with Valtteri leading team-mate Felipe by just 0.039 seconds.

Felipe Massa:
Felipe would be the first to come out for Williams and his first timed lap would see him seventh with a 1m:28.225, which was 2.0 seconds off the quickest time. A 1m:27.964 was an improvement for Felipe but he would drop to eighth. Felipe would pit after six laps currently eleventh. Felipe was 0.4 behind his team-mate after their runs. Felipe was running with an older front wing design. Felipe would remain in his car but would come out for his soft tyre run and on his flying lap would set a 1m:25.920 to be fifth. With other times being set Felipe would drop to seventh. Felipe would set a personal best in sector one but would not improve on his time.

Felipe would pit after just four laps on the soft tyre. Felipe was just 0.039 behind Valtteri. Felipe would run through the pit lane and carry out a practice start at the end of the pit lane. With twenty minutes remaining Felipe would pit having completed thirteen laps on this set of soft tyres. Felipe was also back out this time on used medium tyres. With five minutes remaining Felipe had completed twelve laps on the medium tyre. Felipe was setting times in the high 1m:29s.

Valtteri Bottas:
Valtteri would follow Felipe out for his first run. A 1m:35.7979 from Valtteri on a slow first lap where he would have an off track moment. His next lap would see a1m:28.584 to be ninth but this would become tenth. But he would continue to improve with a 1m:27.559 to be sixth. Valtteri would also pit as he continued to test a new front wing. Valtteri would also come out for his soft tyre run and his time of 1m:25.881 would see him move one place ahead of his team-mate taking sixth. After his longer run Valtteri was now ninth and would have completed fifteen laps. With the re-start of the session Valtteri was straight back out. Again on used soft tyres Valtteri had completed twenty two laps on this set of softs with six minutes remaining. Valtteri would pit also coming out on a used set of medium tyres.
