Team Summary:
After a delay of nearly an hour due to heavy rain at the Suzuka circuit the session would finally get underway with Raikkonen coming out for a single lap run on the full wet tyre. There was forty minutes remaining in the session as Hulkenberg and Palmer also came out. Each driver would only complete a single lap prior to pitting. Ericsson would come out but would also pit after a single lap. The drivers had been very careful with lots of standing water around the track. Next to come out would be Vettel, Perez and Ocon. Shortly after them was Alonso with thirty minutes remaining.

Alonso would pit but both Perez and Ocon would continue on a second lap. "There are some rivers on the straights" would be the feedback from Ocon. Perez would set a 1m:51.345 while Ocon would set a 1m:49.518. Next out was Hamilton followed by the first of the Williams. Both Force India cars had pitted as the second Williams came out. Hamilton would also set a time with a 1m:48.719 followed by Ocon, Perez, and Felipe. Only five drivers had set a time with fourteen drivers having come out to assess the conditions. With ten minutes remaining the track was now empty as the rain continued to fall. But Hamilton and Alonso would come out for a second run but would quickly return to their pits. The session would end with just five times set in what was a session that achieved little apart from getting some data relating to the wet conditions.

Felipe Massa:
Felipe would be the first out for Williams also using the full wet tyre. Felipe would set a 1m:52.146 but after a three lap run he would pit.

Lance Stroll:
Lance would follow his team-mate out also on the full wet tyre. Lance would set a 1m:52.343 to be fifth prior to pitting after a four lap run. Lance had pne moment where he would aquaplane off the track at Turn one running across the gravel but he was able to continue.
