On the final day of testing at the “Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo” all three BMW WilliamsF1 drivers would be presented with another fine but cloudy day. The day would be spent continuing the program of developing and refining the new FW25.

Over the five days of testing at Valencia the new FW25 has showed an encouraging turn of speed, with Juan Pablo setting a new lap record. The WilliamsF1 drivers have indicated their favourable impressions of the car.

Ralf SchumacherWilliamsF1 Chief Operations Engineer, Sam Michael commented on the five days of testing by saying: "We finished at Valencia today and now we move to Barcelona for a further test next week. We have had a productive week testing with some good improvements to the aerodynamics, we also did some endurance running for reliability checks on the new car. We also did tyre testing for Michelin."

BMW Motorsport Director Dr Mario Theissen added: "From the BMW point of view the Valencia test was successful. We have had no technical problems with the engine and were able to concentrate on the engine set-up. Apart from this we were supporting test work on the chassis and tyre development.

At the end of the day it would again be Juan Pablo who would be the fastest of the three. He would spend the day concentrating on tyre tests and would complete ninety six laps with a best time of 1m:11.179. This would see him second behind Jaguar's Antonio Pizzonia, who would set a new lap record with a time of 1m:10.083.

For Ralf he would carry out a successful race simulation with the new FW25 completing eighty eight laps. His best time would be a 1m:12.385. For Test driver Marc Gené, also driving the FW25, his day was spent conducting aerodynamic tests on the new car, with a best lap time of 1m:11.890.

The BMW WilliamsF1 Team will again be testing next week this time returning to the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona, from the 17th to 20th February inclusive.

As for Jaguar's Antonio Pizzonia who broke Juan-Pablo Montoya’s lap record, this was done with light fuel load.
