Team Summary:
With the start of FP1 for the Emilia Romagna GP there would be a number of
cars coming out including both Williams drivers. Times were set and Bottas
would move to the top of the times with a 1m:20.345. Raikkonen would set a
1m:20.175 followed by Bottas and Perez. The Williams drivers were currently
fifth and sixth. At the front Hamilton was now fastest with a 1m:18.257
followed by Sainz, Verstappen, Nicholas, Perez and Bottas. Sainz would
return to the top of the times with a 1m:17.682 followed by Hamilton and
Verstappen. Bottas was now fourth followed by Nicholas, Perez, Ricciardo,
Stroll, Vettel, and Gasly tenth. A few drivers have had spins including
Mazepin and Tsunoda.
Gasly would improve to be second behind Sainz. With twenty minutes completed
both Williams cars were still in their garages. Gasly would improve with a
1m:17.470 to go quickest. Most drivers were on the medium or hard tyre.
Verstappen would have a moment going across the gravel at Turn one. Bottas
was now quickest with a 1m:17.396 from Gasly and Verstappen. Hamilton was
fourth followed by Sainz, George, Vettel and Giovinazzi. But there would be
a red flag with an incident involving Perez that would see the Red Bull
parked at the side of the track. His car had suffered a failure on the left
rear wheel. It would seem that Perez and Ocon had made contact as Ocon would
also pull off the track. Prior to this Hamilton would take to the grass but
with the track cleared the session would restart with just over ten minutes
remaining.
More tyres were coming out on soft tyres. On the soft tyre Sainz was again
fastest with a 1m:17.197 only to see Hamilton move ahead with a 1m:16.892.
Verstappen was third followed by Bottas, Gasly, Stroll, and Nicholas seventh.
The Williams drivers out on the medium tyre were currently 9th and 11th.
Verstappen was now quickest on the soft tyre with a 1m:16.622. Hamilton was
second followed by Leclerc, Gasly, Bottas, Sainz, Alonso, and Stroll eighth.
More times were set and it would be Bottas now quickest with a 1m:16.564
followed by Hamilton and Verstappen. Leclerc was fourth followed by Gasly,
Sainz, Alonso, Stroll, Nicholas, and Ricciardo tenth. George was 11th with
the end of the session.
George Russell:
George would head out in FP1 and would set a 1m:41.512 in what was a slow
lap but his next lap was a 1m:22.183 to be sixth. A 1m:19.931 would see
George move into third dropping to sixth. He would pit after a short run now
seventh. George was also back in his pit currently 12th having completed
nine laps. With thirty three minutes remaining George would return. A
1m:19.335 from George would see him 12th. He would drop to 14th. But George
would set an impressive 1m:18.075 to be fifth. Even though he would set a
1m:17.866 he was now seventh. With the restart George would return but with
others going quicker would drop to 11th. With the end of the session he
would remain in this position.
Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would follow his team-mate out for his first laps in FP1. He would
quickly set a time with a 1m:39.724 to currently be seventh. He would
improve with a 1m:21.835 to be fifth. A 1m:19.986 from Nicholas would see
him seventh. A 1m:19.974 would see Nicholas move up to be fourth dropping to
fifth. Nicholas would pit after a eight lap run. He would drop to eighth to
now be behind Ocon. Nicholas would follow his team-mate out for his second
run. Nicholas would set a 1m:18.611 to be ninth. A 1m:18.208 would see
Nicholas sixth dropping to seventh. But a 1m:17.739 from Nicholas would see
him now sixth ahead of George. He would return with the restart following
his team-mate back out. But he would have an off track moment going across
the gravel. He would pit ending his session finishing in ninth. |
