Team Summary:
Qualifying would commence with the first time being set by Leclerc with a
1m:10.780 bit Gasly and Sainz would move ahead with Gasly setting a
1m:10.062. The firs of the Williams was in fifth if only temporarily. More
times would come in with Norris now quickest with a 1m:09.537 only to see
Verstappen take the top spot with a 1m:089.329. Norris was now second
followed by Perez and Ricciardo. The Williams pair were currently ninth and
14th. Hamilton would go quickest with a 1m:08.824 from Verstappen. The
Williams drivers were now 12th and 17th with eight minutes remaining.
Leclerc was now second but Sainz would move ahead to make it Hamilton from
Sainz, Verstappen and Gasly fourth. Leclerc had a lap time deleted seeing
him down in 18th. For Williams they were 15th and 16th. Hamilton was still
quickest from Sainz, Bottas, Verstappen, Gasly, Tsunoda, Norris, Alonso,
Perez and Ricciardo as the period drew to a close. Both Williams cars were
back out on new soft tyres. Leclerc would move into third seeing the
Williams now 16th and 17th. Bottas was now in second ahead of Sainz and
Leclerc. The Williams drivers were now 17th and 18th. Giovinazzi was now
sixth seeing the top ten now Hamilton, Bottas, Sainz, Leclerc, Perez,
Verstappen, Giovinazzi, Gasly, Tsunoda, and Norris tenth. So both Williams
cars were out of qualifying but we did have Nicholas ahead of George in what
was a very rare occurrence.
The second period would see Hamilton quickest from Verstappen. Bottas,
Gasly, Leclerc, Sainz, Ricciardo, Perez, Alonso and Norris tenth after their
first runs. After their second runs the order would be Hamilton remaining
fastest from Bottas, Verstappen, Leclerc, Gasly, Perez, Norris, Sainz,
Ricciardo and Alonso tenth. the final period of qualifying would see
Hamilton quickest from Verstappen and Bottas after their first runs. With a
1m:07.934 we would see Hamilton remain fastest with Verstappen alongside him
in second. Bottas was third followed by Perez, Gasly, Sainz, Leclerc,
Norris, Ricciardo and Alonso tenth. So Williams will start the Sprint from
17th and 18th not that much behind their championship rivals Alfa Romeo. Now
it will all come down to what they can achieve in the Sprint. |
