Jerez Test 14:03:2003 Day Three of Three

After his somewhat disappointing eighth place in the Australian Grand Prix BMW WilliamsF1 driver Ralf Schumacher would take to the track in testing for the team at the Jerez circuit. Ralf was only present for one day, with Marc Gene returning for further wet weather tyre testing for Michelin.

Ralf SchumacherAgain the team spent the day focusing on development work on the new FW25.
Ralf's best time of the day was a lap of 1m:18.729, which would see him finish second. This time was around one second faster than those recorded by test driver Marc Gene.

Ralf's would complete seventy laps, with the focus of testing on further setup work for the new FW25.

BAR test driver Takuma Sato would set the quickest time of the day, and the fastest time of the week. Behind Ralf was Toyota driver Olivier Panis who took over from Cristiano da Matta. The Jerez test will finish tomorrow, with the WilliamsF1 team joining other Michelin supplied teams for wet weather tyre testing.

WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager, Tim Newton, commented on the days testing: "We have had a very useful test and steady weather, which provided the team the opportunity to run tests with higher track and ambient temperatures. We managed to get through a sizeable part of the programme but obviously there is more ground to cover.

Ralf joined us for the last day of timed tests in preparation for the forthcoming Malaysian Grand Prix. We focused on tyre work with Michelin for the Sepang and Interlagos circuits and set-up comparisons for the forthcoming Grands Prix. Tomorrow the test continues with an untimed wet tyre test for Michelin."
