Keep the partnership

From comments made by BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen to the South American media the hope is that BMW can continue its relationship with WilliamsF1 but if that negotiations between the parties fail then BMW has other options that may be considered.

Dr THeissen talks to Juan PabloThese options include forming a partnership with a different team and possibly even creating their own Formula One team. With the partnership between BMW and WilliamsF1 expiring at the end of the 2004 season both companies are working towards a resolution of their discussions.

Dr Theissen told Brazil's Agencia Estado on Saturday: "Our intention is to keep the partnership, but if this is not possible, the possibility to work with another team or to form our own team will also be considered."

For the WilliamsF1 team comments previously made by Frank Williams indicated that he was confident of continuing with BMW.

Williams said: "We had a long meeting with BMW yesterday on a contract and made a lot of progress. We believe we'll do a deal, we're hoping to do a deal. We're optimistic." Williams added that negotiations would take "a month or two" to complete.
