| It was
previously reported that Ralf Schumacher was having difficulties finalising
an extension to his contract with the WilliamsF1 team. His current contract
finishes at the end of the 2004 season.
It
is believed that the problems relate to Ralf's personal sponsors. Ralf said:
"There are a few contract details that I cannot discuss. I am not totally
satisfied and that is why the talks are still ongoing."
Ralf Schumacher's manager Willi Webber had indicated that Ralf is not bound
to stay with the WilliamsF1 team. In an interview for the German newspaper
Webber said: "If the conditions are not right then we will simply not sign. There are other quick cars around. It is not as if Ralf will be sitting on
the street."
It has also been reported that Weber and Schumacher are looking for a salary
of £8.7m but that the WilliamsF1 is only prepared to pay £5.2m. But Ralf has
insisted pay is not the problem. Ralf said: "Money is not really the issue.
You cannot believe everything you read in the newspapers." |
