Despite suffering with the flu and fielding questions on his recent announcement to drive for McLaren in 2005, Juan was in good spirits and spent time talking with guests and posing for photographs. In several Q&A sessions throughout the day, Juan reiterated his absolute commitment to the BMW WilliamsF1 Team in 2004 to which he commented that his “short term aim is to concentrate 100 percent on winning the 2004 World Championship.”

Another feature of the day was a Castrol technology display for guests touring the WilliamsF1 Factory. On hand was Castrol’s Engineer who attends every race and test event of the season, who shared insights as to how Castrol’s X-ray technology really helps the Team predict the reliability of the engine over a race.

This is a critical piece of the overall team puzzle that has helped Juan and Ralf reach the success of placing the Team in 2nd place for the Constructor’s Championship in 2003.

Montoya himself gets actively involved in all technical aspects of the car’s performance, including understanding the impact of the oil. However it was his skills behind the wheel that were on display in the afternoon and Juan showed why he is thought to be such a serious contender in 2004 when he raced against winners of the F1 Simulator heats to win 6 of the 7 races in the afternoon session.

His loss in the 7th race was due to completing some serious circle work just prior to the finish line much to the delight of the 110 guests looking on!

Juan Pablo Montoya has personally recommended Castrol products in 2003 and he has proven to be an excellent ambassador for the Castrol brand meeting hundreds of customers and featuring in advertising campaigns across the world. Castrol wishes Juan every success in his ambitions for 2004.
