Day Two of Three |
| |
| The second
day of testing for the BMW WilliamsF1 team at Imola again saw poor weather
hampering the team in completing their test programme.
Ralf
Schumacher was replaced by Juan Pablo Montoya. This would be his first time
with the FW26 at this circuit.
By the end of the day, after
having to contend with freezing temperatures and a wet track, Juan Pablo
would only manage third fastest. Ferrari's Michael Schumacher would head the
times, breaking the circuit record in the process. Juan Pablo would focus on
set-up work in the morning. Tyre testing in the afternoon was hampered by
rain.
WilliamsF1 Chief Operations Engineer Sam Michael said: "Despite the circuit
being very icy this morning, we spent the first part of the session working
on traction control on intermediate tyres. As soon as it was dry enough for
slick tyres, we worked through a compound tyre test for Michelin. The day
was productive and we’ve covered some more ground before Melbourne.”
The final day of testing at Imola will see Juan Pablo continue with the
testing. |
