After the second Friday practice in Spain both Ralf and Juan Pablo would improve their times. Ralf would finish the session fourth fastest while Juan Pablo was down in twelfth. The changable track conditions would make finding the ideal setup that much harder.

Spanish GP Friday 2nd Practice

The second Friday practice at the Circuit de Catalunya would see BMW WilliamsF1 driver Ralf Schumacher improve his position, finishing the session in fourth just 0.5 seconds behind the quickest driver Jenson Button.

Ralf SchumacherAs for Juan Pablo he would be down the order in twelfth, dropping one place from the earlier practice. He would be just 1.132 seconds behind Button's time. Both Ralf and Juan Pablo would agree that there was more work to don on the setup of their Fw26's.

The session would see an increase in the track temperatures, which would see the lap times increase in comparison to the earlier Friday practice where Michael Schumacher had set a time of 1m:15.658. The warmer conditions seemed to favour the Michelin runners with the first Bridgestone runner in sixth.

The session would see rain fall 38 minutes into the session and the track was declared wet as umbrellas were put up around the circuit. But the rain would just as quickly disappear.

At the top of the times it would be BAR's Jenson Button, again showing that he and his car are going to be competitive this season. He would set a time of 1m:15.935. Next would be BAR test driver Anthony Davidson 0.253 seconds adrift. Davidson certainly has been impressive in his limited time on the track.

MontoyaToyota's Ricardo Zonta was third with Ralf fourth and Renault's Fernando Alonso an encouraging fifth fastest for Renault, 0.599 seconds behind Button. Down in sixth would be the first of the Ferrari's with Rubens Barrichello leading teammate Michael Schumacher. Michael was down in seventh ahead of Jarno Trulli in eighth.

McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen and Toyota's Cristiano da Matta were ninth and tenth. Raikkonen would have problems with his car with it stopping out on the track. Another driver to have problems was Jaguar's Christian Klien who would spin into the gravel after just three minutes of the session when he lost control of his Jaguar at the Wurth corner.
