The BMW
WilliamsF1 team returned to their test programme with two test sessions, one
at Silverstone and the other at Monza.
At Silverstone it would be test drivers Antonio Pizzonia and
Marc Gene, while at Monza Ralf Schumacher was carrying out the testing
duties. The two test sessions were in preparation for both the British and
United States Grand Prix.
At Silverstone the days testing
would be hampered by wet weather with only a small time late in the day when
the track was dry. Marc Gené and Antonio Pizzonia would complete a total of
130 laps.
Pizzonia would complete forty
nine laps, with a best time of 1m:23.687, while Gene would complete eighty
one laps with a
best time of 1m:25.736. Antonio Pizzonia will be joined by Juan Pablo
Montoya for the second day of the test.
Test Team Manager, Tim Newton commented on the days testing:
"Our first day at Silverstone went fairly well today, despite the
typical British weather compromising the lap times.
"Both Marc and Antonio spent the day working on systems checks as well as
completing extensive tyre testing with Michelin," he added, "Marc also
carried out some practice starts while Antonio concentrated on traction
control testing."
At Monza Ralf was working through a test programme that focused on setups
and tyre tests in preparation for the the United States Grand Prix, which
takes place at Indianapolis on 20th June. Ralf would complete fifty seven laps,
with a best lap time of
1m:21.657. |
