The McLaren has certainly improved. Next out was Rubens Barrichello. Rubens would see his lap fall apart in sector three where he would lose time and finish with a time of 1m:14.111 to move in to third. Next was Jenson Button. The BAR driver would finish his lap one tenth up on Raikkonen to go fastest. He would set a time of 1m:13.535. He was certainly continuing his practice form. But he will have to face having to lose ten grid positions. Now it was WilliamsF1's Juan Pablo Montoya who would come out for his lap.

Juan Pablo would finish his lap with an incredible 1m:13.391 to move into first position. Sauber's Giancarlo Fisichella would be next and in a surprise he would set a time faster than than Michael Schumacher, a lap of 1m:13.914. For David Coulthard he would record a 1m:13.640 which would see him in third, ahead of Raikkonen.

For Jaguar's Mark Webber his lap time of 1m:15.093 would see him in a disappointing eighth. For Sauber their second driver Felipe Massa would seta time of 1m:13.899 to see him in fifth. Fernando Alonso would start his hot lap and he would be closer to Juan Pablo's times but He would lose time through the final sector to finish with a 1m:13.582 and third position.

BAR's Takuma Sato would finish his lap with a time of 1m:14.465 to be tenth. A time of 1m:15.119 would see Da Matta in twelfth. The second Jaguar of Christian Klien was next out. His time of 1m:15.090 would see him in eleventh. Jordan's Nick Heidfeld was well off the pace through the opening sectors finishing with a 1m:16.538 to be fourteenth. A 1m:17.283 would be good enough for fifteenth for Minardi's Bruni. The second Jordan of Giorgio Pantano was out on the track. He would finish with a time of 1m:16.167 to finish ahead of his team-mate in fourteenth.

For Renault's Jarno Trulli his lap would see him close to Juan Pablo's time but he would lose time in the middle sector to finish fifth with a time of 1m:13.737. Minardi's Zsolt Baumgartner would finish in eighteenth with a time of 1m:17.515.

The last two drivers would be Panis and Pizzonia. The Toyota driver would set the fastest final sector of the session seeing him move into fifth with a time of 1m:13.641. Now it was the turn of Pizzonia, and in amazing effort he would leap over his more experienced rivals to finish in a brilliant second. His time of 1m:13.422 would see him less than a tenth behind. A great start for the BMW WilliamsF1 team, but could it be repeated come final qualifying.
