With the severe weather conditions playing havoc with the Friday practice at the Suzuka circuit, and worse expected for Saturday's practice and qualifying sessions, there is a very good chance that the Saturday sessions will be cancelled. The FIA and race organisers are expected to make a decision

The region around the Suzuka circuit is expected to be hit by Typhoon Ma-on early on Saturday morning. It is necessary to make a decision now to allow the public to be notified.

If the days sessions are cancelled it is hoped that a qualifying session can be run on Sunday morning before the race or base the grid in the finishing order of the last race if that were not possible.
