| The BMW
WilliamsF1 team would continue their test at the Circuit de Catalunya with
Mark Webber and Antonio Pizzonia carrying out the driving duties. It was
again a day ideal for testing with sunshine, and both drivers would work
through their test programmes.
For
Mark he would continue to work with his new in what were very early days in
his relationship with his new team. Mark continued to become familiar with
the FW26, working on its setup. He would also test tyres for tyre partner
Michelin. He would complete eighty laps with a best lap time of 1m:15.244.
As for team-mate Antonio Pizzonia his day would see him get far more track
time that the previous day where he was to suffer technical problems. He
would work on setups as well as testing gearbox settings. Antonio would
complete forty nine laps with a best time of 1m:15.546.
WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Tim Newton commented on the days testing. He
said: "Following his first official day in the car yesterday, Mark continued
familiarising himself with the FW26 today. Towards the end of the session,
he focused on set-up options, as well as starting some brake and tyre
testing which he will continue tomorrow. Having rectified the teething
problems encountered yesterday, Antonio made good progress today testing new
components on the interim car. Both drivers will continue the team’s testing
schedule tomorrow.“
For WilliamsF1's Technical Director Sam Michael Mark Webber's first days
with the team showed that he was clearly very motivated and prepared to get
to work quickly.
Michael said: “Mark had his first run in a Williams and was complimentary
about the car. His attitude was immediately apparent and he got down to some
serious work on the car, working with his new engineers straight away."
He added: "In my estimation, he has already shown himself to be looking
competitive with some strong times today." |
