| Barcelona Test 26:06:2002 - Day Two of Four | |
| The second day of testing
for the BMW WilliamsF1 team would again see Antonio Pizzonia and Marc Gené
continue, with the drivers greeted by good weather conditions. The day would
see very high track temperatures assisting the team in their Michelin tyre
testing.
Marc Gené would complete ninety laps, with a best lap time of 1m:19.790 good enough for seventh. For Antonio Pizzonia his day would start with an engine failure after a race simulation. Once his car was repaired it would suffer and exhaust fire which would see him forced to stay in the pits for the remainder of the day. Pizzonia would complete sixty three laps with a best time of 1m:20.558, leaving him last in the times. Gené and Pizzonia are going to continue the test programme on Thursday. Renault driver Jenson Button was the quickest man on the second day of testing with a best time of 1m:17.725. Button would focus on tyre evaluation and system work prior to the British Grand Prix. Second was McLaren test driver Alexander Wurz, who continued to set up the MP4/17 for the forthcoming races. Sauber's Felipe Massa was
third after a productive day covering more laps than any other driver.
Arrows driver Enrique Bernoldi was fifth, with his day spent conducting tyre
testing for Bridgestone tyres. Bernoldi would spin in the morning and
suffered an engine failure in the afternoon. |
