On a cold and windy day the BMW WilliamsF1 team would commenced their final
test session prior to the opening round of the 2005 championship in
Melbourne.
The team would continue with the development of the FW27, with Mark Webber
the only driver present. His day would see him complete eighty one laps with
a best lap time of 1m:11.513. He would focus on setup work for the FW27 as
well as tyre testing for Michelin in the afternoon.
But his day would be
frustrated by having to stop out on the track twice due to technical
problems with the car.
Fastest driver on the day was McLaren's Pedro de la Rosa with a time of
1m:09.023 minutes. Mark will continue testing at Valencia tomorrow.
WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Tim Newton commented on the days testing: "Mark
was on duty for the team today in Valencia and spent the morning
concentrating on set-up work while in the afternoon he carried out some tyre
testing for Michelin. Despite strong winds, Mark managed to complete 81
laps. He will be joined by Nick Heidfeld tomorrow. ” |
