According to
reports in the Autosport magazine the WilliamsF1 have picked current test
driver Nico Rosberg for the second 2006 drivers position. It is expected
that an official announcement will be made within a few days.
As
for the future of the other driver high on the teams list, Antonio Pizzonia,
it is expected that he will be offered another year as the teams test
driver. Antonio has indicated that he would consider taking up such an
offer.
As for how he would perform in the demanding world of Formula One Nico is
confident that he will be able to be competitive against the other teams
driver Mark Webber.
Nico said to Autosport: "It shouldn't be a problem to drive against Mark as
long as I get a lot of winter testing. I need to get enough kilometres to
make sure I'm ready but apart from that I'm okay."
It is believed that the WilliamsF1 team is making this decision very early
after the end of the 2005 season simply to allow Nico a considerable amount
of time behind the wheel of a Formula One car. |
