The WilliamsF1 team would join the other Bridgestone supplied teams at Jerez
today, testing wet tyres on an artificially wet track. WilliamsF1 driver
Nico Rosberg would finish third fastest, just two-tenths behind Ricardo
Zonta. Nico would complete 106 laps.
In
an interview for Autosport Nico spoke of how the wet track test was
fantastic but that he has still a lot to learn in regard to the system in a
Formula One car.
Nico said:
"Generally I have been positively surprised by the Bridgestone tyre test. In
Barcelona although we did some running there, it was very difficult to
assess as the temperature was so low.
"The wet test was fantastic and together with (Toyota's) Ricardo Zonta we
have covered so much mileage.
"What was so educational was the electronics control systems. I have so much
to learn but I have completed the wet programme, and it was a very good
test."
Rosberg also discussed his recent test at Jerez which was to see him suffer
a several mechanical problems with his car. Despite this is was encouraged
by the test with the new Cosworth V8.
Nico added: "We've had a fair
share of problems here, so we did not get much running. But I am pretty
confident in the car. The handling is fantastic and I think I have been the
fastest of the V8 runners for the past three days."
Bridgestone Motorsport Technical Manager Hisao Suganuma spoke of the test by
saying: "It was a very good test, it is good to have lots of teams. This is
the second wet test, we have already narrowed the specs from Valencia and we
can narrow further from here.
"It is what's called shallow wet or standard wet tyre test, and we can see
the directions for the next year's spec. The condition was so consistent
here in Jerez, that we got good data from this test." |
