For WilliamsF1 driver Nico
Rosberg this weekends Bahrain Grand Prix sees him return to the track at
which he secure his GP2 title last year by winning both GP2 races. For the
rookie having to start his Grand Prix career at this circuit is made that
little bit easier by his experience of the track.
Nico
was asked how he felt making his Grand Prix debut in Bahrain. For Nico he
described it as the perfect place to start.
Nico said: "Well, this is a
perfect place to start for me. I have had some great success here on this
track in the past and I really enjoy the track and the place so it couldn't
be a better first race for me, definitely."
As for whether his experience in
a GP2 car was going to make his first year in Grand Prix racing any easier
Nico said that he was nervous at the start of his year in GP2 racing and
that it is no different in Grand Prix racing.
Nico said: "It's always a step
up and it gets more difficult so you are always similarly nervous because
you want to go out and do a good job, and it's always important to do a good
job at the time, so it's probably similar."
As for the season ahead of him Nico was not sure of what lay ahead of him
and that all he could hope for was to come away from the year feeling that
he had done a good job for the team.
Nico added: "It's really difficult to say because even through the winter
testing you don't really know where you are with the car so it's difficult
really to set a target. I just hope I do a good job and I improve all the
time and that I've done a good job at the end of the year.
Nico also had spoken of how he expected to be beaten by his more experienced
team-mate Mark Webber. In an interview for the German publication Sport Bild
Nico said: 'For the moment, Mark is on average two tenths per lap in front
of me."
In another interview for Sport1.de Nico added: ''So I must work hard if I
want to catch him up. In F1, you are always compared to your team-mate and
that's the way it should be. 'My goal is to equal his achievements, or even
beat him from time to time.'' |
