WilliamsF1's
Alex Wurz would finish fastest in first Friday practice session for the
European Grand Prix. Neither team-mates Nico Rosberg or Mark Webber would
take to the track during the session, again supporting the view that the
team is protecting their Cosworth engines from excessive use.
With the start of the session it would be Monteiro first out followed by
Robert Doornbos, Alex Wurz, Sato, Jani, Sutil and Kubica. They would be
joined by Jacques Villeneuve and Nick Heidfeld. Scott Speed was also out
followed by Anthony Davidson. Adrian Sutil would set the early fastest time
while the BMW Sauber's would pit after their installation lap. They would be
joined by Wurz and Kubica. With Massa taking to the track Davidson would go
fastest from Sutil and Albers.
Liuzzi was now second while Raikkonen and Ralf Schumacher came out for their
first runs. Massa was now quickest as both Montoya and Nico Rosberg took to
the circuit. It looks like the WilliamsF1 team are ready to give their
drivers more time on the track in this second session. Raikkonen was now
third while Kubica moved into second with Davidson now third ahead of
Raikkonen.
For WilliamsF1's Alex Wurz he was now in second. team-mate Rosberg would
move into the top spot making it a WilliamsF1 one-two.
Montoya was now in
eighth, but on his next lap he would be fifth. So with fifteen minutes of
the session run we would see both Alonso and Fisichella come out for what
should be their first timed laps. They were joined by Montagny. Nico would
lower his time by a tenth while Fisichella's first lap would see him in
ninth.
The second Renault of Alonso was now in second behind Rosberg. Michael
Schumacher was out on the circuit. On his next lap Alonso would go fastest
while Fisichella was now in sixth. Nico would pit while Michael would move
into fifth. Barrichello was now out on the circuit. Michael's first lap
would see him second fastest, a tenth behind Alonso. Fisichella was now in
fourth. Mark Webber would come out to make his first appearance of the day.
Alonso would return to his pit. Rubens would return to his pit while Mark's
first lap would see him in ninth. Button was on the circuit.
With thirty minutes of the session remaining Nico would come back out while
Trulli would pit without setting a time. Kubica was now fourth fastest while
Button's first laps would see him in twelfth. His next lap would see him in
fifth behind Kubica, Davidson, Schumacher and Alonso. Alex would move into
third while Kimi was back out while Montoya would pit. Alonso and Michael
Schumacher would return to the circuit. Fisichella was in eighth. Kimi would
move into twelfth but would improve to be ninth. Alonso would return to his
pits.
With just over fifteen minutes remaining Ralf Schumacher would move into
fourth while Trulli would head back out. But he would quickly return to his
garage. Doornbos moved into fourth. Alex would pit after making some longer
runs. Albers was now in eleventh while Alonso and Schumacher headed back
out. With just over five minutes Alonso would go fastest with a 1m:33.579.
Michael was second with a 1m:33.619. But with the final minutes counting
down Alex would come out and start his final lap to finish fastest with a
time of 1m:32.675. Despite been fastest this was slower than his earlier
time of 1m:32.079.
With the end of the session Alex was fastest from Alonso, Michael
Schumacher, Doornbos, Davidson, Ralf Schumacher and Button. WilliamsF1
team-mates Nico Rosberg and mark Webber were in eleventh and sixteenth
positions. But both drivers had certainly completed more laps than in
previous Friday practice sessions with Nico and Mark completing nineteen
and fourteen laps respectively. |
