Monza Test 13:06:2006 Day One

The WilliamsF1 team would be back at work this time testing at the Monza circuit in preparation for the races in Canada and the United States. Nico Rosberg and test driver Alex Wurz were present on the first day of the three day test.

Nico would spend the day evaluating tyres while Alex would concentrate on gearbox and aero development in the morning, followed by suspension development work in the afternoon. Alex would bring out a red flag when he was to suffer a mechanical failure in the afternoon. This would see Alex complete the least amount of laps of any driver present.

WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Mike Condliffe commented on the days testing: “Nico and Alex were driving today for the first of a three day test in Monza. Nico mainly concentrated on both tyre construction and compound tests while Alex started the morning session working on the gearbox before evaluating some aero parts. After lunch, Alex moved on to some suspension development work. Both Nico and Alex will continue the team’s programme tomorrow.”
