Poor result for Mark

For the WiliamsmF1 team the 2006 Canadian GP would see Nico Rosberg crash on lap two and Mark Webber struggled through to the finish, coming home 12th. Nico's crash was the result of impact between his car and the Montoya's McLaren. Mark's lack of pace in the race was caused by tyre problems.

For the WilliamsF1 team the 2006 Canadian Grand Prix would again see the team come away with a disappointing twelfth place finish for Mark Webber. The race would be won by Renault's Fernando Alonso with Michael Schumacher securing second place on the penultimate lap, overtaking Kimi Raikkonen when the McLaren driver ran wide at the hairpin. Raikkonen would finish in third.

RosbergThe start of the race would see Nico Rosberg, starting from sixth on the grid, move ahead of Michael Schumacher at Turn two. But for the German it would go all wrong when McLaren's Juan Pablo Montoya would make an ambitious passing move on him seeing the McLaren and WilliamsF1 cars make contact.

The impact would send Nico into a spin and into the wall and out of the race. Given the problems that Mark was to suffer with his tyres in the race it was doubtful that Nico would have been able to be competitive for the race.

For Mark Webber his race would see him struggle with tyres that were unsuitable for the conditions. The tyres would completely grain up during each phase of the race. Starting from down in sixteenth did little to help Mark in his cause.

WebberMark would later come in for some criticism from Torro Rosso's Tonio Liuzzi who claimed that when he was passing Mark the WilliamsF1 driver moved off his line more than once and it saw Mark's rear tyre hit the front wing of the Torro Rosso forcing Liuzzi to pit.

One positive thing that could be taken from the rear was the fact that Mark finished the race showing that the team is getting on top of their reliability issues. But this does little to compensate for the fact that the FW28 in the race was simply uncompetitive.
