AS AIRDRIE 5 TYNECASTLE 0


airdrie hit tynecastle with 5 second half goals to hammer one of the league,s inform teams.goals from capoo(2),gogs,pardoe and myself earned airdrie 3 valuable points.

due to injury and player availability airdrie made 4 changes to the side beaten at windlaw.hendrie and smith were injured,clarky was unavailable and i dropped onto the bench.in came gordie,kenny,capoo and sonic as airdrie reverted to a 4-4-2.

unlike last wk airdrie started well.they were first to every ball and moved the ball about well and if gray had been sharper he might have got on the end of a lovely cross from pardoe.good possession saw a couple of half chances but tynecastle defended well.after 20mins the away team started to get on top and 2 or 3 times airdrie defence was nearly caught short on the break.johnny had to look lively and had a fine block at the edge of the box then the big number 10 was clean through and johnny touched his effort by the post.finally a goalmouth scramble in the airdrie box saw r graham throw himself at the ball to prevent a certain goal. the last 10 minutes were fairly even and both sides settled for 0-0 at h.t

the second half saw a whirlwind start from airdrie and after 15 mins they were 3 goals up.they took the lead from a long throw from graham which was neatly headed into the top corner by cooper.the second followed minutes later as capaldi broke into the box and as he held of the challenge of the centre half he fired into the bottom corner.it was 3-0 nothing when a through ball saw the keeper rush of his line and attempt to clear.as he struck the ball capaldi charged the ball down and it looked like it caught his hands but the referee played on and with capaldi first to the loose ball he neatly chipped the ball over the keeper and into the net.tynecastle chances of getting back into the game disappeared when the number 9 was sent off for arguing the decision.however this galvanised the away team and for 15 minutes they had their best spell of the game and again johnny had to look sharp in goal.airdrie always looked like catching them on the break and a fine move between gray and capaldi saw gray,s attempt superbly turned onto the cross bar by the keeper.airdrie then grabbed a 4th when good play down the left saw pardoe burst into the box and hammer home to make it 4-0.the manager then made the first change of the day by bringing myself on and airdrie were rewarded with a 5th goal.from a SUBLIME pass from pardoe MYSELF ran onto the ball and with a cool head calmly stroked the ball into the net.buckles then trenchie came on in quick succession as airdrie safely saw the game out.the game finished on a poor note when a tynecastle midfielder threw a punch which caught graham flush on the cheek.unfortunately the ref was dealing with another matter and didn,t see what happened.final score 5-0

a deserved win especially with the second half display.airdrie kept their composure and discipline as others didn,t and the end result was there for all to see.some good performances and it was nice to bounce back from last wk especially when we were missing 3/4players.that,s 3 clean sheets in a row at home and we are scoring goals as well which hasn,t been the case the last 2 yrs.we will need a similar or better performance next week when we entertain forest.
