The car isn't ready. The driver line-up issue still lingers. The press and public are getting concerned. Some competitors are threatening legal action. At this point, many a team owner would be questioning their level of motivation to remain involved in this type of situation.
Not Gerhard Berger. When asked by formula1.com wether he now regrets buying into Scuderia Toro Rosso, he replied: "Not at all. I like it very much, even though there is a long way to go. Obviously for the last 20 years I spent my time with top teams, always being used to have access to resources and possibilities - so this is a very different road. It is very much back to racing, trying to survive and to move forward. It’s a challenge."
One step in surviving and moving forward seems to be finding more sponsorship funding for the team. It appears that Red Bull has no objections to Berger's efforts to find additional sponsors to help fund STR. "We are working on it", Gerhard admitted. "There are certain leads, but we have not finalized anything yet. But I am sure sooner or later we will have the right sponsor on the team. At the moment Red Bull is the main financier."
