After having to try to learn the STR2 'in the heat of battle' during the previous two GPs, Sebastian Vettel has finally gotten to take a proper 'test' drive for his new team. The young German held down the driving duties for the squad from Faenza for the first two days of this week's Monza test.
On day one, the team worked on brakes and some low-downforce areo packages in perparation for the upcomming Italian GP. Day two was dedicated to trying out new front and rear wing options.
Vettel put in 63 laps on day one, and set a personal best lap at 1;25.106, sixth best on the day of all teams present. Day two saw him log 101 laps, nearly the length of two GPs! His best lap was a 1:24.266, seventh best on the charts.
Today's scheduled test was intially reported to have been rained out: However, some late day running did take place. Vitantonio Liuzzi took over the driving duties today, logging 40 laps and posting a best lap at 1:24.768, fifth fastest on the day.
While some teams plan to run again tomorrow there has, as of yet, been no confirmation as to whether or not STR will be among them.
