There was little if any rest for the crew from Scuderia Toro Rosso after Sunday's Belgian GP as they headed strait for the final '07 F1 test session in Jerez, Spain. For the past three days, the team has been fine-tuning their preparations for the last three race stint of the year.
Day one saw Vitantonio Liuzzi in the STR2, working on chassis set-up for China and testing some new brake parts. One of only two 'regular' drivers on-course that day, Tonio put in the 2nd best session time with a 1:21.280 while logging 90 laps.
Day two was supposed to see both of our boys putting in the laps, but things didn't go quite as planed. Tonio would be out in the morning, putting in another 47 laps with a best time of 1;20.624. However, when the afternoon came around & it was Sebastian Vettel's turn with the car, he experienced issues with the right rear wheel on his 'out' lap and promptly came back to the garage. The team was not able to get him back out until Thursday.
Day three finally saw Sebastian turn laps - 82 of them, to be exact - while he worked on his set-up preferences & the team evaluated some new front wing aero options. For part of the day they also 'experimented' with the car in a 2008 F1 configuration, meaning that they were not using traction control or engine braking. Vettel's best lap was a 1:21.525.
