Good but gone

Debuchy has confirmed he is off to Arsenal, Moussa Sissoko is apparently Monaco bound, Cabaye of course is long gone, so now is it time to ask if the much publicised French Revolutions, is not only over, but has been a complete flop.

I would argue that those three players mentioned were the only ones actually worth our time signing in the first place, you could add Loic Remy to that, I suppose, but as he was never really our player, and appeared to make no secret of the fact that he didn’t fancy being here, I have decided to ignore him.

Of the others Yoan Gouffiran has his moments, and so far has looked decent in places, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwahas never looked good enough, Hatem Ben Arfa can’t be bothered most of the time, Sylvain Marveaux  was never fancied by the manager, Gabriel Obertan appears to be waiting to be formally introduced to a football, Massadio Haidara may still come good. May. And then he will want to be off.

So yes we may have made a good profit from Cabaye, a smaller one from Debuchy and soon Sissoko, but what did we really get out of it in terms of actually building a football side.

The only people that can be really happy with this experiment, has to be Ashley’s accountants.

We now seem to be planning a Dutch Revolution, obviously they are not actually famed for getting on with each other, but I am a little more optimistic than the French Revolution.

Which if you sum up brutally goes like this, some were not good enough, those that were good enough, left, those that were really bad stayed, all together for anyone but the accountants it has to be considered a massive fail.

Obviously the summer is young, and I will hope against all previous experience, that the regime puts it hands in its pockets and spends some cash, our recent requirement, while throwing up some decent players, in the terms of building a side to challenge for this long promised Champions League push (no I don’t actually believe it, just repeating their words) has to be classed as a disaster.

Experiment failure? Revolution est terminée.

It really depends on who's perspective you are looking from, for anyone with any feelings at all for NUFC, then yes it is very much looking like a failure, however, from our beloved leaders point of view ( ie someone with NO passion for NUFC as a footballing entity at all), then it has done exactly what it was supposed to do, 3 players bought for approx £12m ( cab, deb, Sissoko) sold for approx £40m ( depending on what rag / blog you read) and no further investment to follow, job done, last one in the casino buys the round, unlucky Alan, it's you again, don't worry just add it to what you owe me, a bit like that famous " interest free loan" I've given those dumb black and white gits........Happy days indeed boys.
