Jordan have confirmed today that Benson and Hedges will be their title sponsor for the 2003 season. The team have renewed their relationship with the manufacturer Gallagher PLC and after a year of reduced sponsorship, they once again become the forefront of the Benson and Hedges Jordan Ford team.

Eddie Jordan said, "I am delighted to confirm that Benson and Hedges will be with us for the 8th consecutive season. They have shown great loyalty to the team and the sport and I am sure that with Ralph joining Giancarlo Fisichella in the new Jordan Ford EJ13 we can look forward to a very exciting season in their distinctive yellow colours."

Neil England, the Commercial Director of Gallaher PLC, said, "The recent bold moves by the FIA to re-invigorate the spectacle and competitiveness of Formula 1 has ensured that the sport remains exciting. Benson & Hedges is delighted to continue its association with Jordan Grand Prix and looks forward to a great season for them and Formula 1."

The deal is reputedly worth a massive £15million, enabling the team to pay Ralph Firman for the drive this year.  "He is being paid and there was no condition on Ralph bringing any money," said Jordan.  "It is a very clear employer-employee relationship.  Ralph was able to help us with some other things, but they were not conditional on him driving the car."

"We didn't think we would be able to get someone as good as Ralph in the car. He has been a professional driver for five years. " He added. "It was not conditional with Benson & Hedges having Ralph, absolutely not. It was always our choice, but they were very happy with part of the process.  Ralph has been champion in every category he has been through. Nobody in F1 has a better record in the junior categories of racing."

"I am certain he will shine this year. I cannot see why he won't be Rookie of the Year and why he won't be the biggest surprise of the year."

With EJ's eye for talent, Jordan Fans certainly hope that the team despite a shaky start can deliver on promises this year and bring points and glory home to Silverstone.
