The Canadian Grand Prix is one of three races which starts an hour earlier than usual at 13h00 to have a more favourable TV slot in Europe, so it was a very early start for the staff of Scuderìa Ferrari Marlboro and the ten other teams.

The weather forecast is good, with no rain predicted for the race. There is now just the final thirty minute warm-up to check the cars in race configuration. This will provide a chance to check braking performance with a high fuel load and keep an eye on the wear rate of pads and discs, which is the critical factor.

The Ferrari engineers are satisfied that they have done their “homework” well in this area and are not unduly concerned.

Crowd attendance over the past two days has been record breaking and the same is expected today. This could have something to do with the fact that on this side of the ocean, soccer is not the obsession it is in Europe and the World Cup is regarded as just a “side-show” to important games like basketball, baseball and in Canada anyway, Formula 1.
