For Michael Schumacher it was a tough session with a problem appearing on his race car on his opening lap meaning he had to jump into the spare car and after a scrappy first lap he finally began to get the best out of the chassis and almost taking the pole in his final lap but was unable to make a perfect run and had to settle for the second row.

Rubens Barrichello had a solid problem free session but he just lacked the overall pace to trouble the front row as the Michelin’s tyres performed a lot better than Bridgestone in qualifying once again.

For the race though things are looking good for Ferrari and particularly Michael Schumacher who has opted for the harder tyre compound which is slower but much more durable for the race.
